Committee List and Descriptions
All committees are responsible for acknowledging and communicating between other committees. Committees may change, overlap or merge based on our school community needs.
The PTO will consist of various committees; each with at least one chairperson that will report to the PTO board (this report will be given at a monthly board meeting, separate from the school's monthly PTO meeting), and collaborate with other committee chairs. Committee members will be the planners and the volunteers will be the implementers.
2008 - 2009 Reorganization
The PTO has made some changes to refocus our efforts solely on events, fundraising and communications. Last year the PTO had many committees and our focus was a bit scattered and our goals extremely ambitious for such a young organization. After careful review, meetings and discussions with SAC, Administration and the Teacher Task Force, we decided to narrow down our focus to the following committees:
- Fundraising
- Events
- Volunteers
- Communication
- Room Parents
The board has added two (2) additional positions to accommodate these changes. Our first new position is a Fundraising Liaison. The Fundraising Liaison shall act as a mediator/correspondent between the PTO Board and the individual fundraising programs throughout the school. These will include events, corporate partnership fundraisers and various corporate programs. Another key role is to ensure little to no overlap between classroom fundraiser efforts and that of the PTO.
The second position is a Parent Volunteer Liaison. The duties of the Parent Volunteer Liaison will include managing the Parent Volunteer Committee (a group of parents that are charged with data entry, reconciliation and monitoring of the PTOmanager database), serving as a mediator/correspondent between the above committee and the PTO Board and the school's administration.
We hope that our families find these to be positive changes as we strive to create more effective channels in achieving our goals of raising funds towards our students and our school.
Each COMMITTEE Consists of:
- Chairperson - Reports to PTO Board, Coordinates the Committee, Coordinates with other committee chairs.
- Committee - Will Create, Designate, Facilitate and Write action plans.
- Volunteers - Will Implement and support established systems as created by each committee. They will be hands on in carrying out action plans.
