About SmartKidz
The IAM After School Program is designed to provide structured, supervised activities for students who need after school supervision due to family schedules. Students participate in activities such as games, stories, music, arts and crafts, outside play, computer lab and special events. Students will also have time to do homework, however, at least three different activities will be provided each day. The after school program will be available on special days or to support special events. Guests or field trips may also be planned for program participants. The program hours are from 3:00 - 6:30 p.m. each day.

The after school program does not operate on Teacher Workdays. When school is released early due to inclement weather conditions, the after school program will start at the time of school dismissal and extend until regular closing time unless the severity of the weather conditions require the closing of the program. If the program will be closed early, parents will be contacted about the schedule change. The program will not operate if there is a cancellation of school.

IAM has designated four (4) days during the school year as Early Release dates. On these dates, students are released at 12:00 noon. The after school program will run on these dates from 12:00 noon until 6:30 p.m. for students regularly enrolled in the after school program.

1. To make parents feel confident that their children have been left in a safe, healthy, happy, and stimulating environment.
2. To create an open relationship between parent and staff which will promote positive interactions concerning children.
3. To provide an environment in which parents can nurture more productive relationships with their children.

After School Program Cost: There is a $35 registration fee per child/ $50 per family which is collected for initial registration and covers all materials, supplies and special guests for after school enrichment programs. The weekly cost for participation in the program is $45 per week.  Payments can be made bi-monthly or monthly. (Go to www.smartkidzasep.com for more information.)

Payment Information: Registration fees are due at the time of registration. Fees are due on Friday prior to the week of service. If fees are not received by Monday close of business you will be assessed a $5 late fee.  Starting sometime in August, SmartKidz will utilize Tuition Express to accept automatic payments with the option to pay weekly, monthly, or bi weekly. If your account is delinquent for more than 3 days, your child will not be permitted to stay in the after school enrichment program until payment is received.

Cash cannot be accepted for payment. There is a $25.00 fee for all returned checks. If two checks are returned from the bank, parents must make all future payments with a certified check or money order.

Program Enrollment: Students are enrolled in the program when the completed enrollment form and registration fee are returned to the school. Enrollment is limited to currently enrolled students to maintain appropriate student/teacher ratios for supervision.

Departure of Students: Each afternoon, parents are required to enter the school to pick up and sign out students at departure. Persons picking students up from after school will need to show picture ID/enter childs id for the safety and security of our students. Children will only be released to designated adults. Parents must advise the after school staff of any changes in a student’s dismissal.

The program ends at 6:30 p.m. each day. There is a charge for late pick up. The fee is $10 (minumum) per child if the child is picked up 10 minutes late. Parents who regularly participate in late pick up may have their child removed from the program.

Discipline Policy: Students in the IAM After School Program are required to follow the  School Rules “WE SOAR”:

• Work cooperatively
• Excel in all you do
• Show responsibility
• Only use good judgment
• Always be safe
• Respect everyone and everything

Discipline will be viewed in a positive manner with appropriate activities, mutual respect, adequate planning and consistent supervision contributing to a climate in which self discipline can flourish. Teachers will discuss guidelines, procedures and rules with students and review them as necessary.

Occasionally, students will need to be removed from a situation when they cannot act appropriately. The student will be given a short period of time to regain his/her composure. If problems arise frequently, the parent will be notified and a conference with the parent will be scheduled to discuss concerns and alternatives. Persistent and/or severe misbehavior may result in the student being withdrawn from the program.
